Hedge laying

Hedge laying creates a natural fence. It is made by laying horizontally the small trees after partially cutting them at the base leaving enough sapwood and bark for the sap to go through. One can tie the trees together or stake them to maintain them in place. The new shoots can be laid again . The maintenance consist in trimming the hedge every winter

It is a good way of creating an habitat for the wildlife.
